Many people associate workwear with high-quality construction and clothing that meshes very well stylistically. The new Oni Sashiko Coverall Jacket certainly follows it to perfection.
Oishi-San is well known for interpreting American workwear staples through his Japanese dystopic lens. More of a character actor than a leading man, this lightweight coverall will be the most reliable spring/summer jacket in your arsenal. It's designed for work—with plenty of pockets and durable construction— and thanks to its 12oz fabric, it is understated enough to add some heavy layers.
It has one inner and one outer breast pocket and two lower front patch pockets.
The fabric is a 12oz khaki beige sulphur dyed denim made of American and Peruvian cotton blend. Oni invested a lot of time experimenting with super low tension denim with an extremely uneven texture and high breathability. We have never seen a crazy slubby texture in a 12oz denim before.
The jacket is made with all the superior-quality ONI details such as copper buttons, copper rivets at cuffs and impeccable construction.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
